With age comes wisdom. With age comes exhaustion.

Woody Allen is one of my most favorite directors and I make an attempt to watch every single one of his films. After all these years, his brand of comedy is still relevant and he manages to make movies that are very entertaining. To Rome With Love is Woody Allen returning back to Europe, after his last two films which were Vicki Cristina , and Midnight in Paris. Well in this film Woody takes us back to beautiful Rome. There are four underlying stories and in the first one Woody acts as an neurotic retired father of an American bride Allison Pill who is getting married to an Italian communist. The fun part of the story begins when Woody meets the father of his son in law. The story of Roberto Benigni discovering sudden fame and having paparazzi follow him all over the place is a little far fetched and made no sense to me. The other story about newlyweds who come to Rome to start a life only to find confusion also made no sense. Even the ample curvature of Penelope Cruz could not save this story line. The fourth story featuring Alec Baldwin, who has come to Rome for travel and finds befriended by his younger self ( Jesse Eisenberg). It is a story about reflection and his younger self is warned not to break the heart of his girlfriend Greta Gerwig by cheating with a unstable Ellen Page. This story is the best one. To Rome with Love is not without flaws but it is still a good film, but still average for Woody Allen, who has made many many more interesting movies in the past. Release date: June 22nd, 2012.
