The Period Company is a mixed bag because it offers some great quality, effective products but it's surprisingly difficult to find an accurate fit. I ordered three sizes in three styles to find the perfect fit for me. It was a total chore, but it was definitely worth it. The Sporty Stretch is fantastic! It has a snug yet comfortable fit and a silky smooth feel. It holds the curve of the body in just the right ways to be supportive and still provide freedom of movement. The material is spandex and nylon with a cotton top gusset. The gusset is large enough to cover a typical bleeder with a normal flow, but it could be longer at the front and back for those with a severely heavy flow for additional protection. However, this price is hard to beat, especially if you find them on sale. Selecting a period underwear is really about peace of mind. It helps reduce some of the stress because you worry a little less about having an embarrassing moment with those abrupt starts or sudden leaks ruining your clothes, bedding, or even furniture. You can wear these as a stand alone product for those lighter periods or as extra backup with pads/tampons/etc for those heavier periods. For women going through health changes like perimenopause or postpartum, these may help as you can wear them daily. The padding is thin enough you barely notice it over time and it doesn't feel bulky under clothing. Some period products can cause serious health issues like rashes, infections, and even toxic shock so these are a good alternative if you have concerns about safety. The hardest part is learning what your personal requirements will be. Some women may only need to change their period underwear once daily while others require up to four changes a day. Some of the recommended guidelines for Period Company are: light leaks change between 12 to 24 hours, medium leaks change between 8 to 12 hours, and heavy leaks change between 4 to 8 hours. But it truly varies person to person. These are not for incontinence! They might help catch a small, random urine leak, but they are not designed to absorb a fast and strong urine flow. Please don't be swayed by negative reviews due to improper usage. As for care, period underwear can last for several years with proper care. That's great for the environment because it reduces waste. Plus, it saves you a lot money in the long-term as feminine product prices have increased substantially over the last five years. You simply rinse the period underwear to flush the blood and other fluids out, then flip it inside out and place with the rest of your laundry. The recommended setting is delicate (gentle/handwash depending on your machine) for washing and drying. Wash and dry separately if you prefer to use fabric softener/dryer sheets. Period underwear may lose its ability to absorb due to a chemical reaction caused by fabric softeners/dryer sheets so do not use them if you want your underwear to last a long time.

Originally purchased a pair for my daughter as she is very active and sometimes had issues with tampons not doing the job on heavy flow days. I was so impressed with them I purchased another pair for her and two pairs for me.
