I like Basil and now have lots of it coming in, but I've never been a Pesto fan. So, I don't know how this compares to other Pesto freezer options. But, if you've ever wanted a single large and slowly melting ice cube in your glass of Scotch, this is what you need. No worries about funky tastes some report from the modern synthetic materials, this is just like the old metal ice cube trays in your Mom's freezer when you grew up, only half or less the length. Same opening mechanism and all metal construction. I bought it as a treat for myself even though I've been using a good silicone tray making regular size cubes. I love having a single large cube that is slower melting and releasing just the right amount of water for a person who likes to savor their drink without a lot of mixer or smaller cubes that melt too quickly and make it watery. Treat yourself - it might even be good for Pesto, but for me this is only about the ice in my drink!

Stainless Steel clean sturdy construction. Freeze herbs in water or oil, freeze fruits, etc. Big chunky cubes.
