I needed a cool mist humidifier for my son's bedroom and I had been to other stores this day and only warm mists available. At the store, this was the only model available. I bought it and thought great value. For the first 2 weeks,I had no problems, but than disaster stuck. I went to fill the water reservoir and the table and floor was soaked. There was water pouring everywhere. Inside the humidifier it was filled. I unplugged immediately. I returned to store and was told I could only exchange for same product even with my receipt. After a heated discussion, I thought perhaps it was just a badly made humidifier, so was willing to exchange. I tried the new humidifier only on the first use, water poured from it, not a little, half of the water reservoir empty out, while the lid on the bottom was completely shut. I have no idea how it happened. I am returning to the store with my receipt and will get a refund. I had not read any of the reviews and I wish I had. This is a very flawed product.

I recently bought this Pro Care unit. I also bought a humidity gauge to check on its progress. I use in a small bedroom with the door shut. It took about an hour for the humidity to go from 39% to 42%. I would have thought the humidity change would have been more considering the size of the room, which is only about 120sf. Basically the moisture output is poor. The box indicates “cool mist”. There is no mist. It is just an evaporation of moisture from air pulled through a filter. I have not yet experienced the leaking problems mentioned in other reviews, but cannot take a chance that it will unexpectedly start to leak. I read the reviews about leaking after purchasing. I also am not sure I like the idea of worrying about the filter growing germs and then spewing into the air. And who knows how long filters will be made for a generic brand like "Pro Care". The fan is also noisy. Not harsh, but there is no forgetting that it is on. Overall, I think there are better, more effective choices.

I wish I had read the reviews before buying this. In the month we've own this, it has emptied all of the water onto the floor 3 times. At first I thought it me, no way this could happen. Well, after the third time I know it was not me putting the tank back on incorrectly. Even if it was, the design of this humidifier should not allow me to put a tank on in such a way that empties the water onto the floor. When it is working it doesn't put much moisture into the air. Do Not waste your money on this!!!

This humidifier has been working flawlessly for me. I did not even check the reviews on this before I bought it. I am confused to why there are so many negative reviews about the unit leaking. I did not even read the directions when I first used it. Setting up these takes only common sense. Fill tank with water. Be sure cap to tank is tightened. Make sure filter is in place, if needed. Align tank on top of unit making sure water valve stem is aligned. Turn it on. After reading the reviews about it leaking, I could not even find where or how it can leak unless I purposely put the tank on crooked, left the tank cap loose or put on a very uneven surface. I checked if mine was even the same model number and it is. So either they fixed whatever design problem there was, there is that many people who can't operate it correctly or the negative reviews are fakes made by a competitor or someone like that.

I've had mine for three months... I guarantee that the leaks people describe are PURELY due to operator error. They are likely cross threading the screw on cap, or not seating the reservoir properly into the unit. If you take two seconds of care, and don't rush when you fill it and put it together, you won't have problems. It's a simple machine, really, and there's not too many things that can go wrong with it unless you are absent minded when you screw the cap on the tank. And I got my filters from the same Walmart store I bought the humidifier from, so I'm not sure what the other reviewer was talking about.

I had previously never bought a humidifier and when I decided I needed to buy one, I actually needed 3, one for each bedroom. I bought 3 of the ProCare Cool Mist humidifiers and set them all up when I got home. I set them up all the same way and 1 of the tanks emptied all over the counter-top. I didn't know if it was a faulty tank or base, so I put another tank on the leaky humidifier base and it worked fine. I believe something inside the "stick thing" is what's causing this. Maybe it leaks out above the water line or can't recognize when the reservoir has been filled. I'm not sure why, but when I put the leaky tank into another base, it overflowed again. There is a reason that people are saying that it leaks, but from my experience only 1/3 of them do this. It has nothing to do with how tight the lid is or the positioning, I promise.

I had a bad allergic rhitinis and sinusitis for months. My coworker recommended a humidifier. I tried to order online for a different brand but would take 4 days to pick it up. I went to a local Walmart and they only have 2 brands in the display counter, ProCare Cool Mist and Vicks Warm. While in the store, I read the reviews and I was worried about the leaking of water. It's good I read one review that says she had no problem at all. So I bought this one. I read the instructions first and followed them. It's been more than a week now and I noticed I could breath freely at night, no more clogged nose, setting aside that I'm also taking antihistamine. I change the water everyday and no water leak so far. I just handle it with care.

If I'm not drinking or drugging and I operate the humidifier it works just fine. I haven't done either in over 30 years. It's a great humidifier.

My pediatrician recommended buying a cool mist humidifier to help with my son's cold. I didn't know the difference between a cool mist and a warm mist humidifier. I did some research and found that a cool mist humidifier does not put off a mist. It also does not make your room more humid. It does help with stuffiness, congestion and dry mouth. The only time mine leaked was when I didn't place the cap on correctly. So if your looking for a humidifier that warms up your room and puts off a mist, buy a warm mist humidifier. The only thing I didn't like about this unit was that Walmart does not carry the same filter that comes with the actual product.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! The valve for the water tank went out shortly after purchase. The valve would not shut off the water flow and and the tank would literally empty into the floor in minutes. At first I thought I wasn't getting the tank on correctly, but after working with it for 30 minutes, realized the valve was not working correctly. Huge puddle of water on the floor! Don't waste your money on this piece of junk!

Have cleaned and reassembled and now water runs out all over counter top,not sure where is coming from but complete counter is wet to the point it is running off on the floor, not sure what the problem is ???

    • A. make sure the cap is on snug but not over tight hold over sink make sure no water is leaking, check filter make sure it is in completely flat inside of the tray, and most important make sure the water tank is on perfectly straight and that the water in the tank stops bubbling within a few seconds. If the tank alignment is off even the slightest bit the water spout will not be properly aligned with the water tray inside of the unit and the tank will NOT be able to stop dispensing water into the machine causing your flood.

    • A. I had the exact same problem, at first - one gallon of water EVERYWHERE. You have to make very sure that the cap is screwed on straight. Mine wants to "cross-thread", so I have to make very certain that it is seated properly - completely screwed down all the way around. No problems since I figured this out.
