Great gate
We use this gate actually to keep our pup in the kitchen. It works great. We aren't tripping over it like our old one which had a bar across the bottom. It is solid because it's screwed into walls on both sides but isn't in the way at all because it rolls back nicely when not being used.

Great gate for my 2 pugs and 3 children
Can operate with one hand as long as it is unlocked. I haven't had any problems opening or closing the gate as long as you continue until secure. If you don't pull it all the way it will lock, but it is pretty simple to unlock and continue pulling it until secure.
