If you have tap water that has a tds count of 20 or less this filter can last three months, the actual meter will state 0 even after three months but i change it anyway, i live in South Carolina which has one of the top 3 drinking waters in all of the USA If you have a tds count higher, then such will affect your filters life span

It's all about the filter.

It's all about the filter. I finally replaced my 10 cup zero water system for the 7 cup unit. The design of the 7 cup pitcher is barely adequate. The top comes in two pieces that are a challenge to line up properly for a secure fit. Attaching the filters are a challenge as well. It is difficult to align the threads for a secure leakproof fit. But it is really all about their superior filter that purifies my water. That is what is most important to me, but having a better designed pitcher would be ideal.

Not quite Zero water

I recently purchased the zero water filter to replace my reverse osmosis under sink system, trying to find a more cost-effective way to filter my very high TDS water. I tested my water straight out of the tap with the included TDS tester and it was nowhere close to The same results as a TDS tester that I already had. The included TDS tester showed TDS of 100 or so. My TDS showed it as well over 700. I then tested the filtered water using my personal tester and it's coming in at around 100. I'm still going to use the filter, but I certainly wouldn't trust the included tester.
