Middling Performance
I purchased this on Black Friday will be returning it. Much cheaper devices will perform better if you don't require WiFi 6 (802.11ax), but even if you did need WiFi 6, performance would be poor. 2.4 Ghz performance is actually great. Speed and range is greater in all cases than my Netgear R7000, which is considered a very good but older device. 5 Ghz performance is very middling. Speed and range is poor. If the device performs poorly here, it will almost certainly also perform poorly once I purchase a WiFI 6 device that supports the higher advertised (but never actually achieved) speeds. The SSID broadcast also appears misconfigured, because it can take several minutes for a new device to see the network. The web interface is also extremely slow, with most changes taking so long that it appears they require a restart (but there is no indication of this on the front lights). Changing WiFi settings can also cause the physical buttons on the router to become unresponsive. My full speed results are available at www.drinkmorejava.com/RAX35Performance.jpg

AX4/4-stream AX3000 WiFi Router

We got this router on black Friday and hooked it up it was very easy to setup with the app and now my WiFi has been better than ever great buy

Setting up was easy and it works good they also helped me setting it up

Great speeds

I’ve had an old ballin rough yet that keep cutting off and was really putting a downgrade to my service wit speeds of 20mbps once I bought the ax4 my speeds jumped up to 100 just like their ad says I recommend this product for anyone looking for an upgrade

Set your home WiFi ablaze

I got this router for thanksgiving to replace the default router provided by my ISP that was throwing tantrums here and there. I did not expect the level of improvement that I got from this product. From the setup till the connection everything happened at light speed. All my devices are connected and happy. Thank you Netgear!

Wow!

I’ve rented a router for years from my ISP. I finally grew tired of it and wanted something that actually allowed me to reach the speeds I’m paying for as well as the Wi-Fi reach I need. I really didn’t want to buy an extender, so I came across this router in my research and after months of research, I bit the bullet. I don’t regret it one bit! I used to get around 150 down and 20 up, well with this guy, I’m actually getting the speeds I’m paying for with approximately 480 down and 30 up! It’s incredible what a difference this router alone makes!

AX3000 Router...Love it

I bought the AX3000 router because we were having some connection issues it seemed like with our older router while we watched youtubetv. Since I have bought this router we have been streaming crystal clear all the time with no interruptions. Its got great range for our medium sized house and also gives me the max speed Im paying for with my internet. I highly recommend this product and this router to many people as I work in the Internet business. When someone asks what kind of router I suggest its the NETGEAR! Love it.

AMAZING! Never had anything so fast! Best Router!

I was shopping for a new router and I found this one and I knew it had to be too good to be true... Well I found out its truly AMAZING! Only thing I am limited to now is my ISP speed but I can fully achieve what I am paying for! Thank you Netgear!! And thank you WalMart for this insane black friday deal!

Do not buy

I purchase the Nighthawk AX4 to replace the router my cable company provided for me in hopes of getting better internet speed and range. Right away I noticed significantly slower speeds on all my devices and the range was only slightly better in a 1600 SF house. When running speed tests, we had a 66% reduction in speed and a problem with devices losing connection when using. The Nighthawk advertised speed is well above my subscribe speed from my cable company but failed to even hit half of my subscribed speed. After 5 days with the device and 2 failed attempts with customer support to fix the problem, I decided to return it. I was hoping my device was defective but the included customer support failed to fix any of these problems and told me the device was fine. Would not recommend this device and would suggest buying a router for half the price and get the same results.

1. Yes, it's a router so it needs a direct connection to a modem to work. As far as what ISP like xfinity goes--any provider should work--although with a higher end router like this I would recommend using an ISP that is able to deliver fast speeds. A great router is only as good as the speed of internet it's tapping into.
