EVERYTHING the Reviewers said!

Wal-Mart Reviewers hit the nail on the head on this one. After four routers and still dissatisfied with download speed and dead zones, I turned to the reviewers' remarks to find the best router I could without getting a second mortgage. Netgear is the best brand, as many reviewers declared, so I concentrated on that brand, and it didn't take me long to see that this Nighthawk received the most consistently great reviews. Based on that only, I ordered it online, picked it up the same day, took it out of the box, followed the boldly printed, easy directions, and my kids were downloading YouTube videos within five minutes, all at record speeds for our house. And we have an old house with the kids' "wing" very far away from my office (location of the router), separated by a vinyl-covered asbestos wall... you can imagine how hard it is to get good wi-fi reception. However, they've got it now (even though I placed a Netgear wi-fi extender in a room between us, just to be safe). This router somehow knew to connect with DirecTV and the kids' computers almost automatically, and we did very little to finish setting them up. Like I said, less than five minutes, start to finish, and we have about six wi-fi devices in the house. Could not be more pleased with this router, and if one of the dogs eats this one, I'll be the exact same model the next day at Wal-Mart (and cheaper dog food for a while too).

Excellent to realize full bandwidth

I had trouble's achieving the full bandwidth thru comcast. I had comcast to my home several times, blaming them for the issues. Long story short, the problem was my brand new wireless router. Although a cheaper netgear, it just didn't perform well enough to get me the 50MB speed that comcast was promising. As soon as I plugged this in, my bandwidth jumped over 50MB where it was supposed to be. We stream netflix, while the kids play xbox and now notice not lagging or problems. Although a bit pricier than most, it was worth it to get the full bandwidth we were paying for from comcast. I would highly recommend for gamers and video streamers...

Great for today's multitude of devices

My network was crashing and lagging constantly. After juggling 3 old routers and trying setting up extenders or dual networks I decided it was time to upgrade finally. What once worked was failing as my family and technology grew. Essentially I had too many wireless devices. This nighthawk fit the bill exactly and is handling my household perfectly. It is currently providing for 2 iPads, 2 iPhones, 2 android phones, 3 dlink cameras, 360, PS3, 1 appletv, psp vita, laptop, surface and Directv all wirelessly while also networked to two tplink 8 port switches that have about 10 devices hard lined, which on "game night" has 3 ps4's or xboxones playing online together. We are a gamer family and this nighthawk has held up extremely well. I've had it for little over a month and no problems yet. Seriously recommend this and as with any router do the extended warranty as I've never heard of a router that doesn't fail with serious use, at least peace of mind on expensive equipment for cheap, believe I paid 19 for 3 years, which to me is a no brainer. Almost forgot, the iPhone/iPad app works great for maintaining your network and can even reboot remotely when adding on. 5ghz ac, 2.4 ghz, and guest networks of each. Range was huge upgrade over my old as well.
