Midnight Dance (String Quartet)

Alexandros Pirillis brings us a lovely work that is characteristic of the classical music period.  One that includes the smooth foundational rhythm of the waltz, dutifully brought forward by the poignant undertones of the cello that so profoundly structures the music of Midnight Dance.  Calling upon his Greek and Romanian musical influences, Pirillis delights us with an elegant and dance-like tune that is both charming and graceful, and maybe a little haunting, as the violins and viola voice a folksy and cordial melody that wisks us back in time when classical meets traditional folk music in this wonderful composition for string quartet.
