Mayne Caprio 16" x 16" x 18" Round Black Self-Watering Polyethylene Planter

I love the Mayne Caprio planter!!! The built-in water system is genius! I have been known to kill a plant from time to time (basically, all the time), either from forgetting to water or watering too much. My mom has resorted to purchasing me artificial flowers. However, when I saw this basket of flowers, I promised myself that I could keep it alive. It is so beautiful! This particular flower basket is difficult to see if you have watered enough because the foliage is so dense. But the Caprio planter has a fill port on the side. It is very easy to slide a fingernail underneath the edge and peel up. I only had to lift the portion of the flowers that hid the plug and didn't need to worry about spreading the plant apart and leaving holes anywhere. The water trough holds the water evenly around the planter, ensuring that all of the soil receives water. When the water gets too high, it goes into the overflow drain and is held in the reservoir, which is quite substantial. It's like an overflow hole in the bathroom sink. Genius. The planter is very light, but still has some sturdiness to it. I like the black color and the slightly textured sides. I love the Caprio planter and am excited about using it for years to come…and keeping my plants alive.

It's a light plastic, but feels durable. Easy to move even when full of dirt. It took about 15 quarts of potting soil, more if you were starting from seed or smaller starts. It has a drainage overflow at the bottom in case you overwater soil won't get moldy. Also has a place where you can add water to the structure if your plant were well established with deep roots. Overall a great look and size for many patio plant options.
