these blackout curtains are definitely blackout curtains. I bought them because I have a west window in my house and the heat coming in in the summertime is horrendous. I bought these and I don't need to run my air conditioner as much because it truly blacks out the sunlight. They look very nice hanging they wash well and I think you would be very happy buying them I know I have been.
