All in all, a good light, but read on for some specifics. Lighting: bright and not dimmable. The description doesn't say dimmable, but it's worth noting. The light is really bright: like it says, it's as bright as a desk lamp. I originally got it for reading in bed, but it's brightness blinds the spouse. But it'll light up the area of a desk bright as day. Almost harsh, but not quite. It has no battery, so it needs plugged in; the cord is plenty long, maybe six or ten feet. Clip: the clip is pretty strong. It stays fine on a bed post or a shelf, though it can get bumped off. It's not rock-solid, but it holds up fairly well. The neck is nice and bendable, so it should be able to spotlight wherever you need it to. You might need to hold the clip while you do so, so it might need two hands. Like I said, the clip is strong enough, but it doesn't have an iron grip. So if you're looking for a plug-in, bright-as-day, clippable desk lamp, here you are.

I use this as a plant and desk light and it works great. The arm has some trouble staying in place at some angels, but usually holds. The price is great and I am considering purchasing another.
