Not 4 inches
After getting the futon I promptly got it out and set to airing it out so it could fluff up properly. There does not appear to be any smell, thankfully. I left it alone except for turning and agitating once or twice a day for a week and a half. Over the weekend I even left it out in the sun, as that was recommended. I draped it over chairs, let it lie flat, and turned it over regularly. It is only 3 inches instead of the 4 inches advertised. Barely 3 at that. As anyone knows over time and use it will start to flatten out, losing probably an inch of thickness. I am going to give it some more time. But at this point I rather doubt it will fluff up anymore. Looks like I will be looking for a thicker futon in the future. I recommend you do the same.
