Works well, especially for steaks and smashburgers. It's heavy enough to obtain a good sear. The handle heats up quickly, so use a pot holder. I wish it came with a base or holder. If you need to set it aside momentarily, you'll need a stack of paper towels to prevent a mess.

This is a good quality iron grill press! I used parchment paper between the press and the burger meat just so there is less to clean as far as food debris. I cleaned the press with soapy water and dried with towel. No sign of rust on the item but when laid on my drying mat, there was rust residue. No harm no foul. What would you expect from an iron item, huh?! Haha Loved the way the smash burgers we made came out! Highly recommend getting a press :)

I've used my bacon press on steak and hamburgers. Both cook faster but the steaks are juicier than without the press. This is the only press I could find which was made in America. Being made in America insured to me that it did NOT contain any lead or anything else harmful to my health I gave 2 for Christmas presents. Both people like the presses. I recommend this press.
