I own a Joule sous vide (now owned by Breville. I needed an easy solution to sealing sous vide bags, and didn't want to fuss with a hand held model. I was excited to see a vertical sealer that uses less countertop real estate! It's easy, quick with fantastic instructions. It comes with a generous supply of bags to get you started! At first, I thought the bags may be too large, but the device requires 3” of excess bag above your food level, so the bags were perfect for the chicken breasts I've prepped! The bags also have an easy tear open spot on the top. So clever! Vacuum sealing our food will also be convenient to hold food fresh longer. Groceries (NOT an old fashioned word 🙄) are getting very expensive and cutting down on waste matters more now than ever! This sealer delivers!! Buy this! You will not be disappointed! Every household should have one. This would make a great gift to a new couple, a fisherman, a large family, a friend, or family.

Love the upright

It took getting used to. I have used FoodSaver's since the 90's. Due to space constrictions I wanted to try the upright. I do miss have the attachments for vacuum sealing mason jars. I also purchased their jar sealer but keep having problems with it. I have found the vacuum sealer actually removes more air then the FoodSaver ever did. very pleased with that. Also, it does not use as much of the top of the bag which will save money.

You can't put anything soft in it as it will squeeze it flat. Add didn't say not to use for liquids but if you do it will squeeze it all out of the bag into your machine. i bought it thinking I would cook up a big pot of beans and then vacuum seal them. I haven't tried it but I think it would squeeze most of them out into machine. To me looks like only things that are solid would be fine.
