I love this little hammer! It truly is just 8 ounces and both sides are useful for a variety of projects. IT REALLY is only 8 ounces, which is a wonderful feature for my arthritic hands %26 joints. The hardwood handle is easy to grip at every spot. It arrived coated with some waxy coating- all over. I jad to remove it because as it wore off, it left unwelcome marks on some surfaces. I prefer to polisg off the clean metal head as needed, rather than polish unwanted marks on hammered surfaces. I 've never encountered that kind of coating on any of my hammers, so removed it to my advantage. The coating doesn't interfere on the handle.

The price on this quality hammer is so low, I would gladly pay double for it and still feel like I got a deal. I build a lot of furniture and this hammer is great for setting or driving smaller nails and making adjustments with your wood. This size is a great around the house hammer.
