Why eliminate the wide waist band?

Love the cotton fabric. Nice cut. Not giving 5 stars because miss the wide elastic waistband this model used to have. And there were a few inconsistencies in sizing. 2 out of 15 pairs were 2" smaller around the waist & thus uncomfortable to wear. I would pay more for a wide elastic waist band & consistent sizing. Thank you.
