Economically friendly, good rice

It's cheap rice that tastes mostly like the expensive brands. it's really not bad at all. we've been buying this for years bc its one of the best deals for rice that you can find. We purchase it for $11.14 in WV as of December 2025. It's been cheaper in the past, but it's also been more expensive. Really a good price for a staple of our household. Plus, white rice really isn't that bad for you. Sure, brown rice and quinoa is better technically, but if you don't like those - nutrition should be about harm reduction - and this is still much better for you than a lot of carbs.

Better than Kirkland long grain white rice

Overall this is an excellent rice with amzingly few broken kernels or defective kernels as compared to other brands. Therefore, I dare say it is "cleaner" than costco/kirkland rice. With costco rice, I would pour the rice kernels into the rice cooker a little bit at a time to look for discoloured or diseased kernals and then pick them out. But with this Great Value rice, I've given up sorting and just toss the whole bunch into the rice cooker due to the nearly perfect sorting process.

Surprisingly great rice

I'm usually a rice snob preferring Jasmine or Basamati to plain white rice, but when we started making our own dog food, I purchased this for the value. What was surprising was I found that I preferred using this rice for all my Cajun dishes! Make sure and rinse or soak it before using though!
