Good Directions 775 Large Fire Pit Spark Screen

Fires out in the open air can really get going and this thing definitely does the trick of keeping those burning hot projectiles created in such a blaze off of your deck and off of you, your dog, your cat...I bought the 30"" screen along with the 36"" fire pit from Good Directions and they work quite well together. I was concerned that the screen would arrive in a mangled, dinged up state but was pleasantly surprised that it arrived in quite a sound one. It opens quite easily and seems very well made. Works well with the grate of the GD pit but I can see some other applications being problematic - if there were no rim or bracket of some sort inside the fire pit against which the back of the screen could be positioned, the screen might easily be pushed over and off of the pit upon opening (and it is a little on the heavy side and that would be no fun at all if the fire were at that point burning strongly!) The gauge of the mesh is thicker than most. With a little attention and little maintenance, I foresee no rusting problems at all. (IOW - get a cover! The 36"" one offered here from Two Dogs does just the trick for my set up!)

I had ordered two other spark screens from somewhere else prior to ordering this one. They weren't true to size and needed to be put together. I ordered this one in a 37 inch for a custom firepit I built and was happy that it was true to size. I was told it was 35 inches, 37 including the handle and it fits perfectly. I was very excited to see it came pre assembled. I love that it opens from both sides and just hope it doesn't rust too quickly.
