I haven't used this for a smoothie yet so I can't speak about how well it does. However, it fits nicely under my cabinets which have a light ring so I really like that I can leave on the counter where it is convenient to use. It was not unusually loud and it worked perfectly. I also like the fact that the main processing jar is glass.

I love this blender
I have bought nija and then bullet... After a while, I want to upgrade to a more powerful blender. I did a lot of research and I really want the powerful blenders like Vitamix or Blendtec, but I am not willing to pay for the high prices. Luckily, I found Oster. After using this blender for almost half a year. I am planning 2 more as gifts to my co-workers.
