Doing this review after about a year with the Winix 5500-2 Air Purifier/Cleaner. I originally ordered then picked this up at a local Walmart store on the free pickup. Had no problem. So give credit due when it is due. -- So far, have not had any problem with the items at all. Just replaced the HEPA filter

Great and quiet
Purchased around the busy Christmas season and fed ex lost it but I contacted wal mart and was replaced and a new one sent out that day. Great customer service on this order. The air purifier looks nice and is so quiet sometimes I dont even know its running. Ive washed the filter once so far and it definitely is sucking in air as the filter was dirty. Quick rinse and dry and back up and running. I love this unit and highly recommend it if you are looking for a large room air purifier.

Great purifier! High powered!
This purifier definitely packs some power! On full blast it is pretty loud, can be heard from across the house, but not so bad that you can’t sleep in the same room with it. Night mode and lower modes are great, really limit sound. There are two big gaps at the sides of the cover which allows it to pull in dust balls, carpet fibers, stray scraps of toilet paper from a shoe, or any other random larger thing that might get drug into the room. It caught me off guard the first time I cleaned the filter, as most filters are pretty securely tightened and only pull in dust and particles that can fit through the vented covers. I added a photo of the large side openings with this review, although I just cleaned my filters yesterday. I actually don’t mind if it pulls hair and other random items at the bottom, since obviously the vacuum missed them. The re-washable filters are easy to spray off into the sink and scrub, and you can definitely see that it is pulling dust and such out of the air. I’m not sure if the plasma wave actually works or not, but in general it seems to be pulling a lot out of the air, so it is for sure working to some effect! Weird sidenote, when I first installed this item I realized that the remote to my Hitachi Roku TV also works on this air purifier. Anytime I try to turn the volume up on the TV it would crank up the purifier to full blast. This competed with the sound increase of course, but then I realized the exit button reduced the power of it. Weird. The air purifier does come with its own remote, so it wouldn’t be impossible to turn it back to whatever setting you wanted from its own remote, just a strange thing to have to do. I ended up moving the purifier into my bedroom to stop the issue for now. Technology, what do you do.
