Great router
I recently purchased this router after seeing what was needed for my router table insert. I read a couple of reports of problems with the collets. I can see that if care is not taken you can cross thread the collet which would make the router unusable. I took care of screwing down the collets and found that I had no problem with the router bits staying in place. My router serial number is in the 830xx range.

What a beast!!
This was my first router I purchased and man it's a beast! This router is so powerful and very durable! I accidentally dropped it out of my tool chest and works fine! (Accidents happen) still looks brand new ! I love the detachable cord I wish dewalt would make all of their products that way! Makes it better for storage so your not bending the cord and causing it to short out! Also the adjustable height is easy to use! Wish I would have bought the plunge base with it!

I bought this router 22 years ago, seriously. I have it and happen upon this webpage while researching for a trim base for this router. This router is still going strong after 22 years of onsite cabinetmaker and installer. I've had the fixed base mounted in a small onsite router table and quickly (tool free) switch it to plunge base for all other non-table functions. Plenty of power and built like a beast. This is the only review you need. Work smart. Work safe. Make dust.
