This is extremely easy to use. Take it out of the package, put in two batteries, and you can find a stud within 30 seconds. It also will warn you if there's electricity behind the wall. As you move past a stud the lights will move along with it to show you right where it is. And even how wide it is. I included a picture with and without the electrical indicator.

Where was this tool when I did my last home renovation project? It would have saved me a lot of headaches had it been in my tool box. For starters, you do not have to start with the finder hovering over a hollow wall. (This something that always bothered me with traditional stud finders - if you already knew where the studs were and were not, why would you need a stud finder?) Sliding the Hart Professional Stud Finder across the wall precisely locates studs and identifies that location by lighting up whichever LEDs are directly over a stud. The nine LEDs allow for the greatest accuracy. On top of that, there are two separate yellow LEDs that indicate the presence of electrical wiring. That feature alone makes this tool nearly indispensable for the home project toolkit. If I had that available to me when I was mounting my television on the wall, I would not have drilled into a wire running horizontally through the studs (what goofball would run a wire like that?). I lost a good drill and five years off my life in that incident. Overall this is an awesome tool that I would strongly recommend for every homeowner's tool kit.
