Great Grill in this price range

One design flaw is the use of cotter pins. Where we live, they rust out too fast. Another design issue is the lid not having a stopper when you open it. If you are less than 5 feet tall, it is hard to reach the lid to close the grill when hot. The instructions are not the easiest to understand. And the assembly is not bad when you finally find all of the pieces. Overall we are very satisfied with this grill. This is our second one. We got three years out of our first one, for us thats pretty good.

It beats any Weber Grill.

It beats any Weber Grill. I'm an old fashion BBQ guy. Nothing beats the flavor of a hardwood BBQ! So, I shopped around and bought the Dyna-Glo. Why the Dyna-Glo and not a Weber? Because Weber grills make it impractical and near to impossible to raise and lower the grilling surface over the charcoal. Burnt food anyone? Dyna-Glo solves this problem by giving the cook the ability to raise and lower the cooking trays. It was this feature that drove me to purchase the Dyna-Glo grill. On this model there are dual cooking trays that can be raised and lowered independently. So, if you are like me and you regularly BBQ chicken, pork, and burgers you'll know that they take different cooking temps and time. I always start my grilling with the protein that will take the longest to cook. I sear the meat then lower the cooking tray to get that good wood smoke flavor. Its a science, but I regularly adjust the dual cooking trays to adjust the grilling so that all of my protein is ready at the same time. When near completion, I move it to the warming tray. This allows me to finish all the grilling at once and frees me to partake in the festivities. Keeping the cover closed will add more wood flavor to your food. One improvement over my old grill is the small chimney on the top of the grill. It improves the airflow and circulates the smoke up through the grill. A suggestion for you grill masters is to use a combination of hardwood and coal charcoal. You can get higher temperatures with the coal charcoal, but nothing beats real wood flavor. I suggest using more coal charcoal to one side and using this side for searing the meat then slow roasting it over the hardwood. So far, I have about a half dozen uses out of the grill. The ceramic grilling surface is holding up well and is easy to clean even after a messy BBQ. But the real test will be to see what the surface looks like next Spring, well see... The cooking trays seem to be holding up well, no problem with the mechanisms to raise and lower the trays. Assembly is required! Set aside at least one full hour to get it together. That said, I had my 16-year-old put it together with supervision. The overall build quality is about average. I was expecting heavier gauge of metal for the box and frame. But everything goes together well, and for the price range the build quality is suitable. To give you an idea, the new grill is maybe 50 pounds lighter but the same size as than my old grill. My two suggestions for the manufacturer is to make the warming tray a bit wider. And second, to use a heavier gauge of metal for raising and lowering the cooking trays for better stability.

Great grill, good price

So far I loved this grill! This is my first grill with adjustable height charcoal. It makes cooking vegetables and steaks so easy and I find we are using much less charcoal. With the 4 wheels it is easy to move and the ash tray is simple to pull and dump. It also was pretty simple to put together.
