Driftwood Grey

I was quite hesitant to use this as there were no reviews and I had been using Bleaching Oil on my traditional cape for the last 25 years. This stuff is great! First tried it on the shed and liked it, then the front of my house. I get the driftwood grey look right out of the can. I don't have to wait the 3-6 months for it. Covers great and doesn't look like stain. Another plus, there is no obnoxious smell as in the bleaching oil. Cleans up quickly with soap and water. Also it is compatible with bleaching oil.

Great Product

I used this for the first time four years ago and, honestly, I thought it would not be a good replacement for the traditional bleaching oil. I am very happy to say I was wrong. It looks as good as the day I applied it and there has been zero tannin bleed-through from the red cedar shingles it covered. I am very happy with it!

No Mildew

I put this on my house three years ago after having used the oil based bleaching stain twice before in five year intervals. The results are not the same as the oil based stain in that it acts more like a paint than the old bleaching oil, however, there has been no mildew with the new formula which cropped up every year with the oil based product (I live on Puget Sound). An acquaintance in the San Juan Islands used a similar oil based bleaching stain like the the old oil based Cabot's and the place looked black with mildew within a year I'm very pleased with the productid and will use it again if I live that long.
