Our distinct blend features the robust flavors of nutmeg, cardamom, cloves, ginger, mace and a hint of white pepper. Don’t limit this great tasting spice to just cookies though, because if you do, you will be missing out. Use it in cakes, cupcakes, and danish. Mix a little in your coffee or hot chocolate. Add it to your breakfast by putting some in your pancake or waffle batter, and syrup too. Put some in your protein shakes and smoothies. It will make your morning “Spectaculaas!"
In Dutch, Speculaas is also known as Speculaaskruiden. In Germany, Spekulatius, is traditional in Westphalia and the Rhineland. The speculaas cookie is thin, crunchy, and has a caramelized taste. Mostly baked around St Nicholas's Day and Christmas in Europe. Here at Boston Spice, you can get this tasty spice blend any time of year.

I was so excited to test this spice blend against the traditional Dutch speculaas cookie recipe. It surpassed my expectations. Not only did the delicious aromas of these warm spices remind me of the holidays, this blend elevated my cookie recipe. My friend whose family immigrated from Holland to the U.S. gave me her approval after trying one of my cookies.

used in Belgian Spice Cookie recipe
first time using Boston Spice Co. and this was my first purchase. Had a Belgian cookie recipe that had no spices in it. Added 2 tablespoons of this product and the bar cookie SHINED!!! This prompted a further purchase as these flew out of the cookie tin. Highly recommend both the company and the product.

Amazing taste!!
I rationed this... I found that I was putting it in sooooo much stuff! From sweet to savory to spicy. Spicy being I toned down some curry with it and yet...kicked it up but in a really tasty way. It has gone into frostings, puddings, whipped topping, loaves of bread, and sprinkled on top for sweetbreads. I've used it in sauces and jams. It is by far the most versatile spice palette of taste to cover all playing fields that I have found in a long time. I am finally out of it and am here to order a lot more of it.
