87V because the 289 isn't a good choice.

Although our use case is Electronic R&D I choose the 87 V, an industrial meter, over the 289. Yes, I could use the better precision of the 289 but the 87 V has a better reputation, longer battery life and 289's logging features don't work with Linux and are too cumbersome anyway.

This meter does it all

I replaced my old 87 from the 90's that I bought while in mechanic school with this new 87 5 and I have to say that this new meter is everything that the old one was and more! Great product! I strongly recommend it to anyone who is in the market for an accurate and reliable piece of diagnostic equipment.
