Big Horn 40in Ranch Fire Pit, with Cover

We bought this upscale version because the one we wanted would not arrive in time, but we are happy with the results. The design and construction are light-years ahead of our first fire pit of many years back, and the added features are useful without overloading the simplicity of having a fire pit in the first place. We especially liked the handy log rack for propping up larger sticks, and the way the mesh sides keep the embers contained while allowing air to circulate and give a nice view of the fire at the same time. The reinforcing ring around the legs makes the entire thing quite sturdy, and yet it's light enough for one person to carry even with the grill rack installed. Another nice touch is the heavy duty outdoor cover. And the poker is minimalist but gets the job mostly done, just requiring a little extra finesse for moving around the bigger logs. The coating seems durable, but since it's brand-new we can't judge that yet. I will say that assembly takes patience and a friendly helper. Our unit came with two bent shelf pieces, which I was able to straighten out with the help of experience and tools, but the alternative would have been to wait weeks for replacement parts. And the directions are unclear in a couple of places — make sure to line the hole in the shelf unit up with the sleeve on the fire pit body before you proceed, is all I'll say about that. In all: we are very happy with our purchase and will be giving it a workout!
