Delicious, Easy and Inexpensive.

These potatoes really are very tasty. Dont be put off by the dry cheese packet either. Although it does look a bit like the cheese packets in macaroni and cheese it does not at all taste like it. As someone else mentioned on here, I do recommend that you bake them as opposed to stove top or microwave cooking them, and do check the potatoes doneness before turning off your oven. When doing a double batch I almost always end up adding several 5 minute baking increments past the recommended time until the potatoes break apart easily with a fork. It will also depend on how hot and accurate your oven temperature is.

The Big Difference is in How You Cook them

I buy these and I also buy the Great Value brands as well as other brands too. I like to keep plenty of variety in my pantry and it's a rather simple item to cook. The only way I cook box potatoes is in the oven. To me, they don't taste to great any other way but baked in a hot oven. The potatoes will often not get done enough if you cook them on the stove top or in a microwave....you might also find yourself stirring and stirring to keep from boil over or waiting seemingly days for them to get done. Usually the box potatoes will say bake at 450 in the oven for 25 to 35 minutes. I usually bake them at 425 for 20 minutes, turn the oven off, let them sit in the oven 5 more minutes. You can also dress up box potatoes for variety. I some times place onions in them. Some people put ham. They make a great side dish and very economical.....portion size is good for two to four people depending on the serving portion. I like these packages that contain two, saves on cardboard/paper waste and easier to buy.
