ATH-M30x Headphones=Awesome

This is my first Audio-Technica product and I am extremely pleased with it. First of all, for me these are very comfortable, provided with lots of plush padding on the ear cups. Also the shape is absolutely perfect conforming to my ears very well. I can listen to music for about 2 hours straight, at that point my ears are quite sweaty and the cups are warm, but that's an ample amount of listening for me. For the price you guys charge the build quality seems fantastic. I love the fold up feature and nice bag supplied for storage and keeping my headphones dust free. Now the sound. I don't have a great range of experience when it comes to supposed expensive or exotic brand headphones, but I have tried a few, I won't mention their names. These Audio Technica headphones produce incredible sound. The precise true sound reproduction is unlike anything I have experienced. The clarity is what surprised me. What I mean by clarity is, no crackling or fuzziness in the background, just a smooth steady stream of sound. What's interesting is I can tell the differences in quality of the different recording equipment used by various Artists and Bands. How you ask? Because even though the headphones don't produce any aberrations, if the music recorded does the headphones show it. For instance, when I'm listening to Mark Knopfler and Dire Straights the clarity is unreal, when while listening to a disc by Journey there is some background fuzz, very little indeed. Just from basic logic we know its not the headphone, if it were, the fuzziness would be displayed on all the discs not just some. I found this aspect quite neat. I mentioned the true sound reproduction, which is fantastic. I've read some customers complain about these not having enough base. I guess this is subjective to a persons own preferences but I disagree with this evaluation. For instance, when I played the song Radioactive, by Imagine Dragons, which has a lot of base in the song itself the ATH-M30x headphones pumped out the base. Another nod toward the true sound reproduction, if it has lots of base these will display it, what I think these other reviewers might be referring to is the false base that is added in all the songs in other competitor headphones, which doesn't appeal to me. One of the best examples of increased depth of sound is when I listened to my favorite band, Rush. Specifically the song YYZ, which is an instrumental if your unaware. The first time I listened with these headphones, Geddy's base just popped, it was better than I had ever heard that song. I am extremely satisfied with these headphones, I've only owned them for about 3 months, I guess the only unknown for me is waiting to see how long they last, which I hope is awhile. But when they do finally go down you can rest assured that you've gained a lifelong customer. I highly recommend them. Cory W

Almost exactly what I had hoped for

Going into this purchase, I knew that for the money I wouldn't be getting mind-blowingly incredible headphones. And the M30x's aren't. But for the price they are really, really good. The sound is crisp?no fuzz, no distortion. Very reliable lows, mids, and highs, which for good monitor phones is par for the course. (For the record, a reliable low isn't a earth-shaking thump, but rather a smooth low tone that lets you really hear the range. These headphones deliver.) Everything I've played through these has been very satisfying. Plus, they're comfy. I can keep them on for an hour+ without a problem. My only nitpick is the cord length. Again, they are monitor headphones, so the cord length is probably to be expected. I'd pay the 2 bucks extra for a velcro cord binder for those of us who don't need quite so much cord. It would be nice to throw something like that in, but with sound quality this good, not a big deal at all. And with these sounding as good as they do, I'll be saving up my money for the 40 or 50. Then we'll talk mind-blowing.

I love these headphones

I use these headphones mostly for listening to music and gaming, though they're very useful for when I dabble in music production. I've had these headphones for about 4 months now. My only complaints are that the 'ear holes' were a bit smaller than on the headphones I was using before, and that the leather around where my ears go has started to dry out and get stiff. Next time, I'll go with something that uses cloth instead of leather (but I'll definitely try to keep buying from AT.) 9/10 would buy again
