Pacifica Island Art uses an environmentally-friendly Unryu Japanese rice paper made by the Awagami Factory in Tokushima, Japan. Unryu, which translates to 'cloud dragon paper' in Japanese, features long strands of kozo fiber and is made from natural mulberry and hemp fibers using traditional Japanese Washi techniques - ABOUT THE ARTIST - Daphne Padden - Daphne Padden (1927-2009) Daughter of Percy Padden who was both a fine artist and a poster designer himself. Daphne studied at Epsom & Ewell School of Art and received the National Diploma in Design for painting. As a freelance graphic designer she produced posters & publicity for the British Transport Commission, Post Office Savings Bank, Atlantis Cruise Lines, P&O Orient Lines, British European Airways & packaging designs for Unilever Marks & Spencer. Several series of postage stamp designs depicting fruit, flowers & butterflies were commissioned by the Crown Agents for overseas territories. The artist became an Associate of the 'Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors, and Engravers' in 1981 & a member in 1984. She passed on September 21, 2009
