Wisdom Panel for Cat

It was great to get confirmation of his background. We knew the mother was a Persian. The cat mom was surrendered to rescue, pregnant. Based on his pictures, it was apparent that there was another non persian dad. Knowing that different breeds have different medical issues, I am glad to have a heads up for watching for issues. I sadly lost a cat to PKD, and we didnt know he had it until it was too late to slow it down at all. I know there is no "cure", but now I know to watch for it.

Not a Manx!

What a relief to know what medical tendencies my new kitten could have. There was the question of whether she is a Manx or did have have early physical trauma as she has a stump tail. Manx have hereditary issues so there was concern. Turns out she is mostly an American domestic with some Scottish and Maine coon! What a relief…

Love Our Cat's Wisdom DNA Results

Because we know health & genetics matter, we wanted to have our cat's DNA tested for any pptential health concerns. As a formally feral cat, rescued from a colony at a few months of age, we had no background for him. He was 10lb at about 5 months when we adopted him. Here we are now with a 16 lb, 5 yr old very healthy fluffy big fella, wondering just what he may be made up of. Based on his markings and long fur, we figured some Norwegian Forest Cat, and domestic house cat too, and we were right. What was very exciting to see were the other breeds: Maine Coon, Siberian, and British Shorthair. Not the typical combination of feral cat colony residents. We now know he has the gene for cardiomyopathy (enlarged heart) for which we can keep an eye out for symptoms, thanks to the Wisdom Complete Health DNA test and screening.
