[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We are a family who travels quite a lot, with some years involving half a year of absence from home. To provide protection during those absent years, we opted for the Ring system but recently I had been noticing how my absent minded husband continually forgot his keys in one luggage or another. I knew it was time for a smart lock which enabled keyless entry to make sure that we don't spend half an hour digging through looking for the keys when we returned from longer trips especially.
What features was I looking for? Keyless entry for one. Easy user experience so I don't have to go through an arm and a leg trying to access my home. Stylist finish to add to the iron rod door details we have in some parts of our entry as opposed to be being a sore thumb. And the ability to program preferably multiple keys/codes including temporary ones that I could give to contractors, friends, or neighbors when we need something urgent while being away from home. One use I immediately foresaw needing was the need to give entry to friends who kept insisting to come home and help me set up for the arrival of our little one. I hate to admit but I am private in nature and don't even trust friends to have permanent access to our home.
Anyhow, I ventured into finding the perfect fit and decided to settle for this model. I can't tell you how happy I am with my decision and here are the reasons why:
STYLE: This model comes in a gorgeous bronze color as well as a very slick looking silver finish. We opted for the bronze finish as it matches with our brownish exterior and interior as well as the iron rod details already on our entry doors. While the silver also looked gorgeous, the bronze was truly the perfect pick for us! It looks extremely modern yet classic with its finish and is very stylish all on its own.
LIT KEYPAD: I love how in the winter months and the shortened days, entering anything on the keypad did not become awfully painful due to the dim or dark setting of the 5pm plus times. If you press the Kwikset key, the pad lights up enabling you to enter your options.
ERGONOMIC KEYPAD: The keypad consists of entries which are really easy to press and are gentle on arthritic hands. At work, our installed keypad was so difficult to press, I literally had to hunt for an engaged pen to try to press the options.
RIGHT OR LEFT COMPATIBLE: While we installed the one we purchased on our entry door, my concern was that if I liked the unit and wanted to install more of them for our garage to home door or the backyard to home door, that I wouldn't be able to do that since the orientation of those doors was opposite. But during the install we were happy to learn that the door is configured for both the right as well as the left side. This was a breath of fresh air and with having an opportunity to use it for a while, I am now convinced to purchase two more for the additional points of entry!
EASY INSTALL: I would consider myself a complete novice when it comes to installing anything while using hardware of any kind. Same with my husband unfortunately and perhaps even more so. I am ecstatic to report that if this could be installed by us in less than an hour, it could be installed by anyone.
AMAZING FEATURES: I can literally program 30 users to use this keypad and I can retract those codes anytime. What I love the most is that you can even program 24 hour long lasting codes which have been amazing to give to my cleaners and handyman who needed to be at work.
TWO MODES: This lock gives you the ability to automatically lock the door after each entry or to leave it unlocked after each entry. I have always left it on auto lock since my biggest problem of leaving the key inside, is already taken care of with the digital code entry. I need to make sure that none of us forget to lock the door.
Overall, this is truly an amazing piece of equipment to have as a complement to a good home system. Without a doubt, this would be the model I settle for if any of our rental properties need a lock replacement and once we have more time to invest in keyless entries for our other two points of entry. You really can't be disappointed!
