Great for Travel & Leisure

I first bought a pair of these pants (in the "scotch" color)at my favorite store while on vacation. I loved them so much that I went online and ordered them in the dark charcoal color, too. They are extremely comfortable, light weight and very resistant to dirt and stains. They are perfect for travel and vacation because they don't take up much room and can be worn multiple times without needing washed. When I did wash them (at home and at a Laundromat on vacation) they held their shape and size very well. For me, they were a perfect fit, which is rare in pants. As several other reviewers have commented, the dark charcoal color is a little bit funky - not really black or brown or gray; however, that didn't seem to bother me the way it did other reviewers. I think they look good with black, white or gray tops. These pants were my first ExOfficio purchases and I am so impressed I will for sure be looking to buy more things from this company!

Color wonky

I purchased these pants for a trip I have coming up. Bought them ahead of time and upon first inspection I loved them, as I simply tried them on and did not seek to put them next to anything - the fit is great, well made, fabric not too flimsy or thin, just enough stretch, length perfect. But alas, when I pulled my travel clothing out of my storage closet this week and went to pair them up for my "everything must go with everything" minimalist packing system - I was stunned to find the color deemed "charcoal", was indeed very strange and really more of a tobacco. They work with light grey but themselves are not grey at all nor really go with grey, nor black.. When put next to black or grey they look brown. Yet next to brown, it needs to be the right shade of brown and isn't a great match. Why oh why do clothing manufacturers need to come up with every color variation and undertone, when a simple grey, brown, or black will do? Especially for travel! I will not be bringing these pants on my upcoming trip as they are an outlier, and likely will return them as even shoes are difficult to pair with the color. If you are seeking pants for travel, and don't want to bring that jumbo suitcase, beware. Not a good travel basic for sure. In quality these pants would be a five, in function, in light of travel, I would give a one. Thus I'm aiming in the middle with a three. Also, I am 5'7" , 125 lbs., and the size 2 was perfect.

Dark Charcoal is Brown

This pant is typical ExOfficio top quality fabric, features, and construction. Fits well and I particularly like the cotton content. But the color is off on this one. It does not coordinate with other greys, browns, or cool brights.
