About this item
Product details
Known for both as much for its extremely high yields as its extra sweet flavor this edible-pod snow pea variation was developed by Dr. James Baggett from Oregon State University. The yields of this variation are also extremely consistent with studies in three states, Alabama, Oregon and Florida, yielding the same results. A customer favorite, this type of edible-pod snow pea produces 20 percent higher yields than its competitors. This is the result of Oregon Sugar Pod II Peas producing two pods per node in comparison to the traditional sugar peas single pod per node. Additionally, the Oregon Sugar Pod II Pea reaches maturity 10 sooner than the Mammoth Melting Sugar Pea, a similar variation. The pods of this plant should be picked when they are young and tender. The sweetest peas will result when they are grown in a cooler climate. They stand up well to freezing. This type of pea will require a trellis or similar structure to climb on. This disease resistant strain stands up to pea virus, common wilt and powdery mildew. This edible-pod snow pea strain should be planted in a location where it will receive full sun. Seeds should be sown at a depth of 1 inch with 6 inches of space between plants and rows. The Oregon Sugar Pod II Pea reaches maturity at around 65 days. Packet 15 grams.
