Von den hier vorgelegten 15.815 erschlossenen Biographien sind 11.995 Personen aus den Beständen des Kominternarchivs, 5.991 davon waren bislang nicht einmal dem Namen nach bekannt. Zahlreiche Pseudonyme konnten entschlüsselt werden. Das Buch enthält eine für jede künftige quellengestützte Komintern-Forschung unverzichtbaren Datensammlung (CD-ROM), bietet neben einer soziobiographischen Analyse der Führungsorgane der Komintern weitere Beiträge international renommierter Wissenschaftlern zur aktuellen biographischen Komintern-Forschung, die auf einer Tagung der Leibniz-Universität Hannover präsentiert wurden.
