The cover is a normal black piece of paper. The pages are a nice paper. Not thick but not super thin. The notebook is classy with the elastic band to keep it closed. Another cool part is that it has a folder in the back. This would be nice for college or as a journal. I like it!

I chose this Exceed Large Journal for my 8 year old daughter to practice her hand writing. Every evening, she takes a few minutes to write about things that she did that day or how she was feeling. She likes this journal better than using a spiral notebook or composition book. The ruled pages help her work on proper spacing and alignment of her writing. This journal has 96 narrow ruled papers and is made with heavyweight paper so she can use gel pens, markers, or stickers if she chooses. It has a nice, soft cover which she really likes because it is flexible. She says it is comfortable to use and does not dig into her legs as she is writing like hardcover books tend to do. The book measures 7 ½ inches wide, 9 ¾ inches tall and ½ inches thick. The book has an elastic strap closure and has two ribbon book marks which let her mark more than one page so she can save her place during writing breaks. She is able to quickly find a page that she wants to add more to while keeping her daily entry marked to quickly access it. There is also a large pocket in the back which she uses to keep sheets of stickers to decorate her pages with. The cover of the journal has a smooth texture. My daughter used decorative paint pens and adhesive jewels to personalize it to her liking.
