I really enjoyed reading the book "Homeboyz" (283 pages). It is a book about the life in the ‘hood. The plot of the book is intriguing, since Teddy, the protagonist, is seeking revenge for his sister's death. The 0-1-0's (a street gang) murdered Teddy's sister because she was in the wrong place, wrong time, something they call RP, RT. While the Anderson's mourn Tina's death, Teddy plots a plan to avenge her death. But he gets arrested for attempted suicide and is thrown to a juvenile prison. The judge released him under the condition of been in house arrest and serving an enhanced G-PIP probation with the smart and tough officer Mariana Diaz. Even though the characters from the story have a tough exterior, they are weak from the inside. Teddy is described as a bodybuilder and cyber-genius. Micah, the twelve-year-old boy Teddy has to mentor in order to serve his probation, is depicted as a rude and tough boy who is not scared of anyone or anything. But in the inside, he is just an orphan who needs the love and attention of a family. Officer Diaz is also a woman who seems strong, but in the inside she is just another victim of gang activity who wants to corrupt the incorruptible gang members. The setting of the story is the basis of the book. In Los Angeles there are many teenagers who are in gangs. Due to this, there are many murders and people want to take vengeance into their own hands. But that is not the solution. This can be seen from the many problems avenging Tina's death brought to Teddy. At the end he did not kill Maggot, the gangster who killed his sister. Maggot ended up going to prison. Therefore, the author's message to the readers is that vengeance will not take you anywhere; instead, it creates more problems. Thus, this book will keep you interested beginning to end.
