Exceeded Expectations

I was pleasantly surprised by this laptop. I have been a Mac user for about 10 years, so my PC work has mainly been in a professional setting. I love the keyboard's square keys and their feeling of precision — they're very clicky. However, I did end up purchasing a keyboard cover to protect the internals from dust, skin oil, and debris, and this deafens the clicking and makes the keyboarding feel a little less precise. The hinge which allows the laptop to fold into a tablet feels sturdy and I feel confident that it will last about as long as the laptop will. The touchpad and the touch screen are both very responsive. In my photo, I included a shot of my Microsoft Whiteboard experiment comparing the writing/drawing I've done using the touchpad vs finger on the touch screen vs stylus on the touch screen. Finger's response on the touch screen is excellent. I did not see a good response from the stylus. I think the stylus will work well for "clicks" but less well for actual drawing or writing/continuous input. The sound is fine, not amazing, but certainly not terrible. Not too tinny. It's not uncomfortable to listen to and could watch a whole movie without an issue of clarity. Still, a good Bluetooth speaker would be an improvement. The camera looked fine during setup. I'd say it's better looking than my Macbook's (mid 2015). The information included with the unit said there was a fingerprint reader, but there isn't. There's also no Windows Hello support (the option to sign in by facial recognition). You can sign in using your password or passcode that you create. I downloaded Steam and tested an adventure/puzzle game (What Never Was) that recommended a processor with a max speed about twice what this laptop is capable of. When played at max settings, there was a little bit of graphic lag initially, but it quickly dissipated. I then tried Vainglory which is a cross-platform MOBA (similar to League of Legends or Heroes of the Storm) and also recommended a faster processor. I did not experience any lag while playing this game. It is important to note that other games that include a graphics card as part of their minimum specs (for example, most MMORPGs and many graphics-heavy first-person shooters) would not run or would not run well on this laptop as the laptop has no dedicated graphics card. So Minecraft: probably, but you may have to reduce the in-game graphics settings. Fortnite: no. Overwatch: no. World of Warcraft: no. Call of Duty: no. As far as bloatware goes, there's quite a bit worth removing. Some games and apps are preinstalled that you'll probably never find yourself using (for me, Twitter, Spotify, McAcfee, a Dropbox promotion, loads of HP tools, etc.) and Windows won't let you remove many them from the apps manager. You can find scripts that will nuke all the junk without harming the functionality of the computer. I'd recommend this device for anyone looking to do some office work, homework, zoom meetings, or other basic productivity and some light gaming.

HP Pavilion X360 Sleek & User Friendly

I received this item for the purpose of review. Overall, I love this 14" laptop. It's not too large. Actually, it's perfect for my use. I have decided to use it in my craft area so that I can be mobile between my embroidery machine & cutting machines. This way, I can download designs directly without having to use a flash drive if I don't want to. I can still easily use a flash drive if I want to but I like having the computer screen right next to me while I'm downloading. The laptop is VERY lightweight. Sleek silver color. Great storage for a small laptop - 8GB with 256GB. I will probably never use all that space for my purposes but it would be great for a student too. I have not tried streaming a movie yet but I'm sure it will be just fine. My use will be 99% utilitarian because I will be downloading and using software. The 14" size make it very easy to carry and move from table to table. Set-up was spotless. It synced to my other PCs and I didn't have to do much of anything except click to the next screen. I also synced my phone. There is 1 standard USB, 1 HDMI, 1 small USB for phones, etc, an SD port, headphone port, and another SS USB port on the other side. Battery usage is adequate. I have already used it as a portable device while sitting on the sofa and will be using the charge cord as a permanent set up on one of my sewing tables. A window pops up & tells me if I've reached 20% usage. Time to recharge! One small ONLY con is that I wish it had a standard DVD/CD drive. But I'm okay with that. I can always use an external drive. This laptop is 14" so no num pad. But I'm getting used to that too. I can always hook up or use a wi-fi keyboard. I have not had a laptop with touchscreen before. But it's like having a huge phone. I can use the keyboard OR the touchscreen. Using it in an upright position takes up much less space on the craft counter. The speakers are OK. I think that may be one other small CON. They're not the greatest. Some vibration at higher volume so I keep it down. The thing that I love is the portability. I have a standard desktop in my craft area now and it has always been a pain to do updates, downloads, etc because I have to go from PC to machine, etc. The laptop makes it efficient & quick. All of our PCs in the house are HP. They are trusted and are the best looking cosmetically. I was thrilled to receive one of these because it will be put to really good use. Thanks Walmart!

Lightweight, slick and beautiful graphics!

The HP Pavillion x360 laptop is phenomenal (14-dh2041 wm). I love this new machine. Let me start with the hardware: It was a breeze to take out of the original manufacturers box, plug in the power cord and voila I'm up and running in no time. The laptop features a screen that can rotate into a touch screen tablet – how awesome is that? I love this feature and gives me an opportunity to use it as a touch screen only display. Even when folded over, it remains very flat and lightweight which is a plus. The processor is an Intel core I5 latest generation with an 8 GB DDR4 Ram. Let's just say that this processor and Ram combo gives it enough ‘umph' to load/process/execute pretty much any application at very fast speeds. Multitasking is a non-issue with this machine. I was able to run multiple application with at least 1 being video/graphics intensive while executing another task with the other with no problems or delays (lag) of any kind. I have not had any issues or the ‘blue error screen' at all through the many hours I have used this laptop. The graphics card is an onboard integrated intel UHD graphics which works like a charm on videos, games, and plain streaming. I had no lag issues thus far even turned on maximum resolution in games and videos. The hard drive is a solid state 256GB drive which is great for on demand files and practically instant start up. It has ample space for much of what I need now. I may opt to expand it down the road if need be with an external drive through the USB slot available at the laptop. The laptop features a few FAST USB slots (USB Type C was at 5gbps) and transferring files through those was a breeze. I absolutely love the layout of this laptop and its features. The Screen itself is very sleek at 14” diagonal which is not a large screen but very portable. It is touch screen as I mentioned which is a bonus and very responsive to the touch. It's very smooth when transitioning between pages or scrolling. The wireless card features WIFI 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 combo and I have not had any dropped connections at home or remote as well as no issues using the Bluetooth pairing with headphones or transferring files. I like the fact that this laptop is not bulky and heavy. It doesn't weight much and easy to take with me in my bag. It's very transportable and easy to connect to any WIFI nearby. The speakers are bang &Olufsen and have worked with no issues playing different music or sounds. The audio boost by HP worked well to amplify the sound out of the 2 speakers on board. Now to the software: It came with windows 10 home 64 bit preinstalled. I turned on the machine and quickly followed the on-screen instructions to complete the setup. The whole process was a breeze and user intuitive. After full setup, I was ready to use the machine and had no issues with any applications that I like using. The browser worked with no issues responding well and so did all the video applications. Overall, this laptop is very user friendly straight out of the box. The processor, RAM, hard drive, sound, and video sync well to perform very cumbersome and difficult tasks with ease. I had no issues loading, rebooting, installing, displaying anything I wanted on the laptop. The touch screen adapts very well to the touch and responds instantly. The onscreen keyboard is simple enough to use. I love this laptop and will use it many times for both work and entertainment.
