Melissa & Doug Wooden 8-Piece Farm Animals Chunky Puzzle

These Melissa & Doug Wooden puzzles are a go-to gift I purchase for babies celebrating their 1st/2nd birthday. They are visually appealing and the pieces are sturdy and easy for little ones to grasp. My nieces and nephews had this Farm Animals Chunky Puzzle when they were pre-toddlers over twenty years ago. It (and other Melissa & Doug Wooden puzzles) was passed on to their younger cousins and twenty years later, I still have them (and they are still in great shape)! Littles ones can make the 1:1 match because the image is imprinted and the pieces fit well in the grooves. I love this farm animal puzzle because I think it encourages little ones to speak and verbalize the names and sounds of the farm animals when adults interact with them. It's hard not to make the animal sounds when you are putting the puzzle together! My cousin will be in town next month to visit with his parents. He is bringing his son who is almost a year old; this will make a great first puzzle for him! This puzzle and its pieces are well made with high quality materials. It is a puzzle that will last for years and provide lots of opportunity for fun and learning.

This puzzle is so amazing compared to the puzzles I had in the past for my other children. This one is real wood and appears really sturdy. The paint is so nice as well. I was hoping my youngest could use this puzzle, but he will have to wait. It is for 2 and up. But once he can use it, he is going to love it. You can use this puzzle in so many ways. You can use it to learn to master where the pieces go or you can use it to learn the animals. You can even play with the animals as well as they are big and sturdy enough. This puzzle was nicely done. I will have to get a few others for my house. Definitely recommend.
