[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Bold Liquid Lipstick is housed in a plastic pen with an airless pump. The pen has an indented lever which you push that releases a tiny amount of lipstick onto a flocked applicator that's in a tear drop shape. The pen is well-made; the lever worked all the time, and when I had finished using the pen's contents, the applicator was still in a good condition.
Beautiful Color Bold Liquid Lipstick is a hybrid of a lipstick and a lip gloss. Some liquid lipsticks set hard and suck the life out your lips. This liquid lipstick formula does not fully dry down, so most people should find it comfortable to wear. Some lipsticks and lip glosses make my lips feel very dehydrated, but I never experienced any discomfort when wearing this lipstick.
The liquid lipstick has a subtle sweet scent of vanilla or a sweet pastry, but I only noticed it if I sniffed the product.
As far as longevity, the liquid lipstick lasted much longer than any lip gloss that I've tried, but it did not last as long as a long-wearing matte lipstick.
I bought the shade Seductive Magenta which is a lovely mid-toned berry with a cool undertone. Seductive Magenta has a buildable formula; one or two coats of it looked like a stain, and applying more coats resulted in a lip gloss finish with a good colour payoff. When Seductive Magenta wore away, it left a faint stain on my lips, and it also left a residue on a drinking glass or cup.
When I applied the first layers of Seductive Magenta, some of the colour didn't stick to my lips and the result was patchy. After I applied a few more layers, the result was an even finish. Sometimes the liquid lipstick gathered on the outside corners of my mouth, but this occurs with many liquid lipsticks.
If I applied the lipstick so that it looked like a stain, I could feel a subtle tackiness if I pressed my lips together, but it did not feel uncomfortable. Anyway, I prefer my lipsticks to be bright and bold, so I applied more coats of the lipstick, so there wasn't even a hint of tackiness.
When I had almost finished using up the pen's contents, the residue of lipstick felt slightly gritty when I pressed my lips together.
