Historical Fiction at it's best!

My family and I recently took a trip to Alabama. Birmingham was one of the places we visited. After we returned home, we read The Wastons Go to Birmingham. It is a story that captivated my children. This story is told from the perspective of a young, African-American boy, living in the northern states in 1963. It was so interesting to read this book and learn about culture for the Black family in the 1960's both in the North, and South. I don't want to spoil the story, but I think it is a wonderful family book for read-aloud.
