Got this item on sale it works well but if your dog walks too far back on the treadmill it'll squeak so you do have to convince them to walk closer to the front of the treadmill yes I used the lubricant it's the pressure of their weight on the back end my dog is a border collie he sometimes wears a backpack when walking that's the equivalent to 12-14 extra pounds
