I'm not stupid.. . . till it comes to sewing machines. After totaling my last sewing machine(think of grinding gears, misaligned tires, hitting trees, I mean totalled!), I decided to find a written manual/guide to keep me from destroying my new sewing machine my husband got me for Christmas. I really want to know how to sew! I saw this book and it looked exactly like what I needed. I went through it once without touching the sewing machine. The best thing this book taught me was how not to repeat the disaster of what happened to my previous machine. Whew, that was a relief. The best thing I did though, was to use it like my Bible. I took my bookmark sticky notes and marked all the important sections, writing down why it was important 'to me'. I don't need all of this at once, but I will know where to find it when I do. Yes, I am very happy with this book and Yes, recommend it. Not only to those beginners out there like me, but also those many women that have taught themselves to sew or been taught by mom or auntie Bev or Nannie who taught themselves. So there's alot that you don't really know or understand about that machine but you can get by. This book can teach you those extras that Nannie didn't know either. I feel so much more confident with this book. When, not if, I run into trouble again, I know where I can get the information to prevent totaling another sewing machine!
