Key item features

This soundtrack/compilation from ESPN blasts off with Bush's "Old," and doesn't let up for a second. The tone is alternative funk-punk through and through, and there are indeed some great tunes here. Compilation-heads will appreciate the varied nature of this disc: you've got everything from Fishbone's manic apocalyptic rave-up "Party at Ground Zero" to Wu Tang Clan's "Protect Ya Neck."

Other highlights include Sublime's "What I Got," a bizarre, funky little hip-hop gem (and an "unreleased original version" to boot!). Red Hot Chili Peppers chime in with "Johnny Kick a Hole in the Sky," a blend of funk-bucket bass, scratch-funk guitar, and general rhythmic mayhem. If you haven't quite had enough, the Phunk Junkeez tune "Adrenaline," replete with gonzo guitar lick and shouted chorus, should put you over the edge. A great party album, if you party with folks who like their music funky but a little "out there."
