Camille was interested in peasants who were going about their own business. When you look at Pissarro's works, you may recognise particular figures and gestures but realise they are in a different setting. You may feel like you have been fooled by your memory. For instance, a peasant washing her feet in a stream and another peasant wearing one sock. Later, I began to enjoy this game (or challenge!) of identifying these recurring motifs and I collected those similar paintings in this one book. I hope you will also find it interesting. You may also identify figures that I have missed - let's share our new findings!
