I like how bright they are.

I like these lanterns alot. Three modes of white light. 1,000 lumens. To insert batteries, two D batteries sit side by side with the negative on top, the third sets slightly higher positive side up. Rember to put the post from the base into the base of the lantern, push down and turn. I like the flip up hook on the bottom, though it does take a good tug to get it up. Have fun! These are not children's toys, though they could be.
