Caran d'Ache Luminance Colored Pencils - Set of 20, Portrait Colors

These pencils are the holy grail of coloring pencils. I finially understand what all the hype surrounding luminance pencils. i will definitely be building a collection of these. They are so pigmented and lay down beautifully. It's like polychromos and prismacolors had a lightfast baby. and the color range of this set is perfection for portraits. Highly recommend!!

Drawing a light sketch and coloring with these pencils is a real treat. It's one of those'IYKYK' things. Try them, even if you're one of many art students! Just get a couple favorite colors and try them out. You'll realize the quality, ability to lay down colors to achieve depth, shadows and mid-tones. Highlights can be achieved by using light touches, leaving some white space and even erasing some of the applied layers in specific areas. I used an AI program to help create a palette of desired colors for different art focuses, like landscapes, urban sketching, botanicals, etc. The portrait set has several colors you can use as cross-over colors for other focuses. They are pricey, and the lightfastness information can be found on the Caran d' Ache website. Get a blender. as well as, some good paper, like bristol. I know I'm glad I gave it a try!
