The Morgan Silver Dollar is a United States dollar coin minted from 1878 to 1904, and then again in 1921. It was the first standard Silver Dollar minted since production of the previous design (Bust Dollar) ceased due to the passage of the Fourth Coinage Act.The Morgan Dollar was designed by George T. Morgan, an English engraver employed at the United States Mint. The Morgan Dollar was significant because of its large size and many features, which set it apart from other coins being produced at the time. Morgan's design on the dollar coin is one of America's most recognized artistic designs in history.
