Fantastic filter! My highest recommendation!

After seeing the very negative review by BigDaddyOH, I felt the need to write my own personal review. I just hate seeing good people, who are truly needing good advice, misguided by blooming idiots. The filter clearly shows the Inlet and Outlet flow direction (see my attached photos). The flow direction can be easily swapped by simply turning the water connection on the back of the filter 180 degrees. No tools required, simply grab it and turn it. It can even be turned so that the water connections are in a vertical orientation, if needed for your particular installation. This is all stated very clearly in the manual…. you just have to read it. The filter works great and has a selection of 3 different filter cartridges that you can choose with different micron sizes that you can select per your specific needs. I prefer the medium micron (the one with yellow plastic ends) as it has a nice balance of filtering very fine particulates, while not significantly reducing water pressure. And it couldn't be easier to replace the filter cartridge when it is time to do so. Again, I just hate when idiots post reviews and misguide good people who are looking for good advice. Get this filter and my bet is that you will love it, as much as I do.

I highly recommend these Whole House Water Filters

I agree with PlumbingPro, this is a great Whole House Water Filter. Some people, like the negative review he references, appear to think there is no need to read the instructions or the manual, both of which GE makes available. Then when they mess things up, instead of accepting the responsibility for their mistake, they look for someone else to blame for their own mistake. Too bad, but please don't blame GE for your mistakes. As PlumbingPro said, all the negative review would have had to do if he had read the instructions and manual is turn the inlet/outlet 180 degrees, and his problem would have been solved! Simple! But as for me, although I have 54 years experience in all aspects of building and remodeling, I still read the instructions and the manual for my GXWH50M Whole House Water Filters. Very well done, GE! I chose to buy two of these whole house water filters, and install them in series, the first one with the purple basic filter, and the second one with the yellow advanced filter. I might consider using the green premium filter in the future, but we'll see. And I bought a spare filter for each. My only regret, if you want to call it that, is that I wish I had gotten the GXWH70M, that automatically tells you when the filter needs changing, a very nice added feature. But the supplier I bought from didn't have that model. So I'll just have to keep tabs on it myself, simple enough\, I just put a reminder in my calendar to check it every three months, a very simple solution. One other thing that some people have mentioned is a reduction in water pressure. Some are having their filters quickly get clogged up with what appears to be a lot of sediment. My conclusion about that is that they are getting their water from their own well, and that perhaps their well pump is sitting too low, down into the gravel or sediment at the bottom of their well. We can't blame GE or any manufacturer for that. I set my well pump about 15 feet off the bottom of the well to avoid that problem, a simple fix. The well pump itself will last a lot longer that way too. And I have no problem with filters getting clogged. My water pressure gauge is in line after the water filters, and after almost 3 months, it shows no loss of pressure at all. My bottom line is that I very highly recommend these Whole House Water Filters, either the GXWH50M, or the GXWH7M, both are an excellent choice, and both do a great job to protect appliances, and filter your water.

Awesome unit!

The pressure release for installing the filter was a little ‘tricky' and stiff, but, it all got figured out. The unit itself is very attractive. Like the ‘different' filter options available, too.
